Chinese New Year Postage Stamps - Lion Dance
The Chinese New Year has the highlighted celebration 3 days to performs with a religious ceremony given in honor of Heaven and Earth, the gods of the household and the family ancestors, the sacrifice to the ancestors, the most vital of tall the rituals, united the living members with those who has passed away, and the presence of the ancestors, is acknowledge on New Year's Eve. During the Chinese New Year, the Chinese will greet each other with Sin Jiun Yu Yi Sin Ni Huad Jai (Chao Zhou Dialect) or the new year. The others will reply with Tang Tang Yu Ee wich means good luck to you too.

Another symbol of this tradition is also "red envelope" or Tae Ear which all the children will be received as gift from adult. Tae Ear means binding on waist. During the ancient time, the money had hole in the middle, when received they had to bind together with the red thread and to binf on waist. After that there was no hole on the money, and then it chanced to use the red envelope instead and called "Ang Pao".

International Letter Writing Week 2007 Commemorative Stamps
The Shadow Play is one of the most ancient forms of cultural enterment and dates back to the time of Alexander the Great, who celebrate his victory over Egypt and proclaimed his dignity and power by having a Shadow Play performed. Today the Shadow Play in Thailand has undergone tremendous changes but some major characters still feature in performances.

Design 1: The Richi Puppet is considered to be Master of the performance. Each movements must lend an atmosphere of solemnity to the performance and his style is serious and dignified.

Design 2: The Puppet of the God Siva comes next to the Richi. People in general refer to this character as the Bull because the puppet is carved into the image of Siva riding on the Usupharaj Bull. The manipulation of this puppet demands more artistic skill from the performer than do the other fingers. For this reason, the performance will display his best skills in controlling the character.

Design 3: The Prai Na Bot is a puppet dicting the character of a young man carrying a flag or a lotus flower in his hand. He represents the performer who recites the involcation and gives comments on certain issuesto the audiencd

H.R.H. Princess Galyani Vadhana's Cremation Ceremony Commemorative Stamps
H.R.H. Princess Galayani Vaddhana, Krom Luang Narathivat Rajanagarindra, was born on Sunday, May 6th, 1933 in London, England. When she came to take permanent residency in Thailand, she made use of knowledge by teaching in many academic institutions as well as by helping her mother, Somdet Phra Srinagarindra the Princess Mother, in various social activities. During her life time, H.R.H. the Princess of Narathivat devoted herself to the education of young people and promoting social welfare in terms of medical and public helth care as well as the environment. She had applied her experience to the development of the country. Her interests covered a wide range of experience in writing and academic pursuits. For this, she earned the titles, the Writer Princess and the Academic Princess. Many of the books she wrote have helped to enhance people's understanding of the country's history, customs and politics.


During the filnal stage of her life, the Princess of Narathivat was admitted to the Chalerm Prakiet Building in Siriraj Hospital. She passed away, at the age of 84, on January 2nd, 2008 at 2.54 a.m. The Royal Household Bearue has scheduled November 14th, 2008 as the day of the royal cremation.

New Year 2009 (Flowers) Postage Stamps - Water Lilies
Western Water Lilies Bred by Thai Cultivators

Design 1: The Suwanna Water Lily is a hybrid of the the "Khao Thammanune" and the "Blue Capense", Water lilies of this kind have two colours of the petals alternate. There are dots on the petals, stamen and pistil, giving the flowers different design.

Design 2: The Tan-khwan Water Lily is a hybrid of the "Perris Fire Opal" and the "Sirius", bred by Pairatana Songpanich of the Department of Agriculture. The colour is deep pink, almost red and some hvae a rosy colour. The form of the flower is star-like, with layers of petals, forming 44 to 48 petal layers.

Design 3: The Tanpong Water Lily is a hybrid of the "Mayla" and the "Madam Ville Frongoniere," bred by Pairatana Pongpanich of the Department of Agriculture. The flower bud tapers to the end and the top and bulges in the middle. The petal tip is pointed. The petals are white and red. The petal layers are espectially dense with more than 45 petal layers. The flower in full bloom is large and semi-circular in shape and emits a soft fragrance.

Design 4: The Mangala-ubol Water Lily is a hybrid of the "Maxicana" and the "Parries Five O," bred by Asst. Prof. Dr.Noppachai Chansilpa. The flower has dense layers of petals. It is orange yellow in colour with the ends of the petals being orange. The flower in full bloom is large and circular in shape and has a sweet fragrance. The stalk holds the flower up from the water.
